Here is a description of some of the things we do to make your landscape beautiful:

Lawn Maintenance

Weekly Lawn Mowing; Line Trimming; Blowing off walkways, driveways and patios; Spring and Fall Cleanups

Lawn Applications

To keep a healthy lawn, you should apply a balance of fertilizer and weed control applications throughout the landscaping season. Our program is as follows:

  1. Slow Release Fertilizer with pre-emergent: To add food for the grass and prevent grassy weeds from germinating (Examples: crabgrass, goose grass, nutgrass)
  2. Slow Release Fertilizer with pre-emergent: a split application gives seed surplus for most of the season
  3. Slow Release Fertilizer with Merit Grub Control and Talstar Surface Insect Control: to control most insect problems through the summer
  4. Slow Release Fertilizer: High nitrogen and potassium for stress relief from summer
  5. Winterizing Fertilizer with Nitrogen and Potassium: To keep grass root system healthy through the winter and to green up quickly in the spring
  6. High Calcium Lime: Maintains soil ph at neutral, or to raise low ph

We spot treat with Weed Control throughout the season, and also apply Disease Control applications if needed.

Organic Fertilizer is also available!

Shrub Applications

4 Applications per year: 2 Fertilizer, 2 Dormant Oil (to control soft scale insects and eggs from hatching)

SLIT SEEDING

Slit seeding is the process of dethatching the lawn (removing dead grass that is still connected to the crown and is forming layers) with a special machine.

When your lawn has too much thatch, lawn applications are not as effective because the application does not get down to the root zone. Surface insects like to live in those layers, causing damage to the lawn. Grass also stays wet longer, creating higher risk for disease.

When you slit seed you remove a portion of this grass. After 2 passes, you clean up the thatch. Then 2 more passes and the machine incorporates the seed into the soil where the machine creates slits. The slit seeding machine automatically applies the proper amount of seed into soil. Any excess thatch that comes up would be leveled over the lawn. Grass clippings DO NOT create thatch. Once dead grass blades are detached from the crown, it will turn into organic matter.

LAWN AERATION
Lawn aeration is also done with a special machine. It relieves compaction by plugging the soil so it opens up the thatch. Like slit seeding, it also increases the effectiveness of lawn applications. It allows the grass to breathe, and promotes a much healthier root system. Many of our customers have lawn aeration done at least once per year, some twice per year. The best time for lawn aeration is in the early spring, or the early fall.
